"Windows11 22H2" How to update a PC that does not support
Windows 11 22H2 has been released. I will show you how to update an old PC that does not support TPM2.0 from Windows 11 21H2 to 22H2.The method that became popular in 2021 has been countered, but you can avoid it with a new method. A clean install is installable the 2021 way.
1. Environment
I use Windows 11 on VMware. Here are the specs of the virtual machine:

It is the weakest class because VMware is running on a PC made in 2010.
2. 2021 way
I described how to upgrade in an article a year ago.
This was a trick to bypass the check by deleting the sources\appraiserres.dll in the installation media. However, 22H2 detected that the check could not be made and was blocked from proceeding.
It was a poorly designed loophole, so I thought it was on purpose, but it seems that the guard has become a little stiffer this year.
3. How to update to Windows 11 22H2
Now let me show you how to upgrade. Windows10 21H2 boot media is required in advance. (I haven't tried it on other versions of Windows 10.)
3.1 Download Windows11 22H2
Create Windows 11 boot media from the official website. If it's just an update, the iso is fine.

3.2 Copy Windows 11 boot media files
If the downloaded boot media is an iso, mount it first.
Copy all the files in the Windows11 22H2 media to an appropriate folder in the C drive. The description uses c:\temp.
3.3 Copy Windows 10 boot media files
Overwrite the sources\appraiserres.dll in the Windows 10 boot media prepared in advance to the Windows 11 22H2 (c:\temp\sources) copied earlier.
3.4 Start installer
Start c:\temp\setup.exe.
After unchecking "I want to help make the installation better", click "Change how setup downloads updates".
3.5 Click "Not right now"
and Click "Next"
3.6 Click "Accept"
If this screen appears, the evasion is successful.
3.7 Click "Install"
The installation will start now, so wait for a while until it finishes.
3.8 Installation finished
The update was successful on the original Core i5 430M machine.
4. Clean install
Clean installation of Windows 11 22H2 can be avoided by setting the registry introduced last year.
The change in 22H2 is that even the Pro edition now requires a network connection and a Microsoft account login at the time of installation.
4. At the end
I was able to extend the life of my 2010 PC again this year. It feels like I'm surviving on the limit line.
